Summary
We assessed the environment at Kiribati Institute of Technology, documented improvement priorities and trained the internal IT Support Team after network responsibilities changed providers.
Client context
The institution supports teaching facilities at KIT Betio and remote locations. Its internal IT Support Team needed to manage the environment after network responsibilities moved from a previous service provider.
Challenge
The transition created three immediate needs:
understand the condition and configuration of existing systems
identify gaps and priorities for future infrastructure work
transfer enough knowledge for the local team to manage ongoing operations
Approach
We combined technical assessment with hands-on training during an in-country engagement. That let us review the environment with local staff, test assumptions, and explain findings in the context of their day-to-day work.
Delivery
The engagement included:
an assessment of existing IT infrastructure
identification of system gaps and upgrade priorities
recommendations covering KIT Betio and remote teaching facilities
practical training and mentoring for the IT Support Team
knowledge transfer to support ongoing local management
Outcome
The institution gained a clearer view of its current environment and a prioritised basis for future infrastructure decisions. The internal team also received practical training tied to the systems it manages.
Remote support alone wouldn’t have closed the knowledge gap left by the transition. Combining assessment and training kept capability with the local team.
